The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in the case of Mahmoud v. Taylor on Friday in favor of religious parents in a Maryland school district who sought an opt-out for their children from LGBTQ-themed books.
At issue was whether school systems are required to provide parents with an "opt-out" option when parents claim their religious beliefs conflict with their children's course material.
The court granted an injunction that allows the parents to opt their children out of the books as the case moves forward, ruling the parents are likely to ultimately prevail in the case.
