The message board is powered by an Arduino Pro, and communicates with his computer via a pair of series 1 Xbee radios which relay a series of canned messages to an attached VFD.

A very unique Arduino project has been created by a team of researchers at Stanford led by post-doctoral fellow Nariman Farsad, which is capable of sending text messages using common chemicals.

The researchers used an Arduino Uno board, an Adafruit LCD, a desk fan and a household spray bottle to transmit a short message across a tabletop, via molecular diffusion.
