Dame Jasvinder Sanghera, former chairwoman of the independent safeguarding board (ISB) inquiry into Church abuse which was disbanded by the Archbishops’ Council last year, accused the Archbishop of “ignoring” the victims whose cases were being handled by the board.

The bishop of Liverpool has resigned after coming under scrutiny over allegations of sexual assault and harassment

Bishop Perumbalath, who was enthroned as Bishop of Liverpool in 2023, previously said he had "consistently denied the allegations made against me by both complainants". In accordance with church convention, the bishop offered his resignation to the King, who then accepted, allowing him to retire from the role.
