One lot of Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF, manufactured by Alcon Laboratories, has been recalled due to fungal contamination, the FDA announced this week.

In response to a report of foreign material found in a sealed vial, Alcon Laboratories has initiated a voluntary recall of Lot 10101 of Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF, Single Vials On-the-Go, 25 count.

Hawai‘i DOH warns against a contaminated lot of Systane Lubricant Eye Drops that could cause severe eye infections.

The foreign material was found to be “fungal in nature” which can cause an eye infection that could threaten a person’s vision. It also can be potentially life-threatening. There have not been any reports of adverse reactions connected to the drops.

Systane eye drops have been voluntarily recalled due to potential fungal contamination as reported by the FDA on Dec. 23. The recall affects one lot of the product following a consumer complaint about foreign material in a single-use vial.

The recalled Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF were sold as single-use plastic vials in 25-packs, according to the recall notice posted by the Food and Drug Administration. They’re marked with the lot number 10101 and a September 2025 expiration date.

A brand of eye drops sold nationally has been recalled due to the presence of fungus, which may cause vision damage.
