The government of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has voted to dismiss Ronen Bar, the chief of Israel’s Shin Bet internal security service.

Israel's Supreme Court issued a temporary injunction on Friday temporarily freezing the dismissal of the head of the domestic intelligence service, according to a ruling published on the court's website.

Israelis have been demonstrating against the action, which many see as part of an effort to reduce checks on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing government.
