Thousands of Connecticut power outages have been reported Sunday as a winter storm brings snow and ice ahead of deep freeze and high winds.

A winter storm brought heavy snow to Connecticut overnight before turning to sleet and freezing rain that caused some icy conditions Sunday morning.

Freezing rain, ice and wind are the main weather concerns Sunday from the latest winter storm impacting the Tri-State Area.

Snow will begin early Wednesday and accumulation is expected in all areas. Most areas will see a few inches of snow until the storm winds down on Thursday. Get ready for difficult travel and a few days of closings and delays.

Continental Polar high pressure will build across the Middle Atlantic and Carolinas through Tuesday night. This will set the cold air in place for our storm.L
