WASHINGTON (AP) — When President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in as president of the United States inside the Capitol’s rotunda, he will do so facing a bust of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on the federal holiday commemorating King’s legacy.

As the United States prepares to honour Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and fight for equality on Monday (Jan 20), civil rights leaders are organising efforts to counter President-elect Donald Trump's expected policies,

In a rare happening, the King holiday falls on the same day as the presidential inauguration. Activists vow to continue the fight for civil rights.

"I just want to live in hope that some of the ideals of the late Dr. King might flow over into this new administration," said one advocate.
