American actor John Lithgow has won the best actor trophy at the London stage Olivier Awards for exploring the dark side of children’s writer Roald Dahl in “Giant.”

At the prestigious London theater awards ceremony on Saturday, “Giant” earned the prize for best new play, and its star John Lithgow won the award for best actor. Lithgow’s co-star, the Jewish actor Elliot Levey, won best actor in a supporting role.
