The idea of Father’s Day was conceived slightly more than a century ago by Sonora Dodd of Spokane, Wash., while she listened to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909.

In 2024, Father’s Day falls on Sunday, June 16. As well as being celebrated in the UK on this day, Father’s Day is also observed in Canada and the United States on the third Sunday in June.
