Ireland is bracing for a brutal New Year's Eve, with heavy rain and fierce winds set to sweep across the country. Met Eireann has issued a weather warning, as storm-like conditions threaten to disrupt celebrations nationwide.

The New Year's Day Classic Gathering, held at Brooklands Museum, has previously attracted more than 7,000 people. But forecasts of stormy conditions, including strong gusts , have forced organisers to reschedule the event to 4 January.
