The Department of Homeland Security says its officers visited two Los Angeles public elementary schools this week to do a welfare check on migrant children.

Federal agents were turned away from two South Los Angeles elementary schools this week, the district’s superintendent says.

The Los Angeles Unified School District confirmed in a message earlier this week that agents with the Department of Homeland Security showed up at two elementary schools but were not allowed entry.
