East Tennessee saw snow begin to fall Friday morning, leading to difficult driving conditions and covering several areas in white.

Flurries are forecast to start falling in East Tennessee late Friday morning through the early afternoon, depending on the city. The storm will continue through Friday afternoon and night. Due to the storm, East Tennessee will accumulate between 3-6 inches of fresh snow.

Another massive winter storm is forecast to pummel the southern and eastern U.S., with impacts from Texas to the Carolinas.

A a state of emergency for Tennessee was issued on Thursday in anticipation poor conditions after snow hits the state. Gov. Bill Lee and the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency issued a state of emergency Thursday to provide relief across the state.

Travel is anticipated to become "very difficult" by the mid to late morning and although much of the snow will move out by midnight, travel impacts will continue through the weekend.

The storm will bring "widespread snow accumulations" with a mixture of sleet and freezing rain possible south of Interstate 40 with "light ice accumulation possible."
