For almost 40 years, when a Windows computer crashed severely, it would display the infamous Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), a blue screen with an error message that typically indicated a serious system issue.

Microsoft announced in its latest blog post that it will retire the iconic Windows blue error screen (Blue Screen of Death, BSOD).

So the blue screen of death is officially known as a 'Stop Error', which basically indicates that Windows can no longer operate safely. "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart as soon as we're finished collecting some error info," is the sort of message that tends to come up.
