A warning is issued once six demerit points is reached. At nine points, the driver is called in for an interview. A licence can be suspended if they reach 12 points.

The government is cracking down on people who use hand-held cell phones while driving. Starting in the spring of 2015, drivers caught in the act will soon lose four demerit points instead of three.
