An amber weather warning is in place across most of north Wales as Storm Éowyn hits the country.

The system could bring gusts in excess of 80mph on exposed coasts in Northern Ireland, northern England, northwestern Wales and western Scotland. An Amber National Severe Weather Warning for wind has been issued,

A series of new weather alerts, including an amber “danger to life” warning, has been issued by the Met Office as Storm Éowyn is forecast to barrel into the UK with 90mph winds and rain. The fresh amber warning for wind will stretch from the North West and northern Wales to Scotland and Northern Ireland on Friday from 6am to 9pm.

An Amber weather warning has been issued covering our region as the country braces for Storm Éowyn. The Met Office alert is in place between 6.00am and 9.00pm on Friday, January 22. Storm Éowyn is expected to bring very strong winds and widespread disruption.

There are strong winds in Sheffield as Storm Éowyn arrives but the Steel City seems to have so far avoided the worst of disruption, compared to other areas of the UK and Ireland.

Warnings of further wind and rain have been issued for the West Midlands this weekend as communities recover from the effects of Storm Éowyn. Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire are on alert for strong winds on Sunday,

Away from the areas expected to be worst-hit by Storm Éowyn less severe amber and yellow warnings for both wind and rain have been issued, with 11 warnings in place for the UK on Friday and Saturday.
