The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is moving forward with plans to redesign the Breezewood interchange in Bedford County to provide motorists with a direct link between the turnpike and Interstate 70 to Maryland.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has taken a first step in redesigning the Breezewood interchange to provide a direct link for motorists who want to exit the turnpike and head south to Maryland on Interstate 70.

For years, drivers have been asking for a project to address the current Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange in Breezewood.

A long-awaited upgrade to the Breezewood interchange is moving forward, as the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has named Alfred Benesch and Company as the lead designer for the project. The redesign will create a direct connection between the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-70/76) and Interstate 70 while expanding the roadway to six lanes between mileposts 160
