The United States remains central to climate negotiations and can make a crucial contribution to the preparation and execution of COP30, even after its withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, Brazil has said as it prepares to host this year's UN climate conference in Belm.

Close on the heels of its withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, the US has pulled out from two more initiatives — a fund for responding to loss and damage and an international climate financing agreement to help developing countries transition away from fossil fuels.
