Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) credited Republicans’ election night wins on “candidate quality” after they not only flipped the Senate but could end up with a larger-than-expected majority.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) on Wednesday stood firm on keeping the filibuster in place under a Senate GOP majority, even though the party will control a 52- or 53-seat Senate majority along with the White House and possibly the House next year.

The outgoing Republican leader suggested the Senate GOP would reject any push by Trump to change Senate rules.
