Duke Energy: It may take weeks for Pinellas beaches to fully regain power post-Helene
Duke Energy Florida reported about 29,000 Pinellas County customers without power as of 5:15 p.m. And it might be a while before that number approaches zero. While Duke has said it’s working to restore power to homes and businesses that are structurally sound, the hardest-hit parts of the Pinellas beaches could endure outages well into October.
407K Duke Energy customers get power restored while 285K others wait
About 95% of Duke customers in those counties are expected to have power back by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Some customers should have power before then, while those who experienced severe flooding and damage may take longer. Impacted customers should expect updates from Duke Energy in the coming days.
