There are plenty of big questions heading into the IPL auction for 2025, maybe primary amongst them being what Rishabh Pant’s landing spot will be after his decision to leave Delhi Capitals after a near-decade long association with his home team.

Indian Premier League (IPL) side Delhi Capitals retained four players, including captain Axar Patel, going into the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Delhi Capitals released their captain Rishabh Pant and also parted with the head coach Ricky Ponting after a poor show in the IPL 2024 season. Hemang Badani was appointed as the head coach and Venugopal Rao came in as the new IPL Director of Cricket.

Released by Delhi Capitals after a successful IPL career, Rishabh Pant is set to be a hot commodity at the upcoming IPL Mega Auction in Riyadh. The auction, featuring 574 players, will see teams vying for the explosive wicketkeeper-batsman's services.

Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, the three captains released by their franchises ahead of the retention deadline, will be among the 12 marquee players whose names will kick off the IPL 2025 auction,

Delhi Capitals parted ways with Rishabh Pant and released him on the IPL 2205 retention day. The wicketkeeper-batsman started his journey with Delhi in 2016 and had a long stint with them. He was expected to stay with Delhi forever but his stint with the franchise ended before IPL 2025.

On Friday, the Indian Premier League issued the highly-anticipated Player Auction List for the 2025 edition with a total of 574 players set to be featured in the Mega Auction in Saudi Arabia. Pant was not retained by Delhi Capitals while Shreyas Iyer and K.

On November 15, the BCCI narrowed down an initial list of 1,574 players to 574, including 366 Indians and 208 overseas players. All current Indian cricketers are placed in the highest base price category.
