Syria’s Foreign Ministry calls for ‘urgent action’ from the UN to stop ‘Israeli aggression’ against civilians.

The Israeli army claimed responsibility for airstrikes Monday targeting several locations south of the Syrian capital Damascus, saying it struck sites linked to the intelligence unit of the Lebanese Hezbollah group. Israel normally refrains from publicly acknowledging attacks on Syrian territory.

There were no immediate reports of casualties in the air strike, which Syria said hit a civilian area in the Sayeda Zeinab region south of the capital.

The Israeli strikes targeted the central Damascus neighborhood of Kafr Sousa and a military site in the Homs countryside, killing one soldier and injuring seven other people, the ministry said in a statement.
