I’m not sure about public transport to Haa Valley from Paro but yes, you can get shared taxi through a local tour operator. You may get mini bus (tampo traveller) on seat basis also through tour operator. It’s nice to visit Haa Valley via Chelela pass which is highest motorable pass in Bhutan (3990 mtr) but unlike Rohtang Pass of India, you may not find snow here. Please be advised that there is not much to see in Haa Valley - it’s just the drive if you enjoy scenic beauty.
Me and my wife are planning to visit Haa on bike. Is there a direct route from Haa to Phuenstoling without going to Paro? I am not able to find it on google maps. Thanks, Viraj

Haa valley is at very high altitude hence roads of mountain require a good local driver. Chelela Pass route
Hello, please indicate if any permit is required to be taken for HAA Valley

Initially we got Via for Thimphu & Paro.. Haa vally is comes in Paro City so no need to take other Permit... But for Punakha you have to take separate Permit ...
Hi! We will be in Haa Valley tomorrow (driving from Paro). 1) How long was drive? Did you visit any sites en route? 2) Was it super cold? 3) Is food available there? 4) On our itinerary for Haa Valley are: - Kila Gompa; - Lhakhang Karpo Nagpo; and - Juneydrak Hermitage. 3) What do you suggest? I am not a trekker, but would love to see the valley and maybe do some short, relatively easy hikes, 1-2 hours, 3, through beautiful areas. My guide is not very keen on Haa. But it sounds so beautiful! Thank you so very much! Helen

Hi Helen, Haa is beautiful , you must explore. The drive from Paro to Haa is 2 hrs via Chele la paas. There are two places in route one may visit a. Agricultural Institute b. Kela Nunnery ( Kela Goempa) Currently weather will be good, Chele la will be mild cold and windy. The weather in Haa will be pleasant. You may require a jacket in the evening. You may visit Lakhang Karpo, Nagpo and Juneydrak Hermitaaage ( One can do it as a trek rather than drive). You may also explore Takchu Goempa it is above Lakhang Nagpo , 30 mins drive up to the tip of hill - The view from Takchu Goempa is amazing. Also if time permits, go to Hanging Bridge near Chundu Army School - a scenic picturesque and a great place to embrace nature. For a small trek , you can go for Katsho Goempa Trek which is 45 mins to an hour trek from Bali BHU ( Hospital name in Haa). Hike to Katsho and Juneydrak both are easy and comfortable. Enjoy Haa.. Indeed , this small town in Bhutan not only beautiful but mesmerizing too. Have a great Trip.
