Nice park and a great spot for Sunset and the Sea Turtles. If you have kids there is a terrific place where the kids can wallow in the shallow water, and if the kids are a little older, there is a s…Full review by wigglywaggly

This is the best beach! Very shallow- you can walk out and still be waist deep. It's good to have water shoes. Snorkel is amazing, AND after lunch, the turtles come in to take a nap on the beach! I c…Full review by 715jillw

Lucky to see 24 sea turtles on the beach and monk seals sunbathing. The beach is crowded and not my favorite to relax but the turtles and sea lions made it worth it. I could have watched them all a…Full review by lss1227
We’re going on a Hawaiian cruise and want to see sea turtles at Poipu Beach. Can you suggest transportation from the cruise port there? Thanks! JoEllen
Is there overnight parking allowed? We have been there many times and have not seen signs with hours. We would have a car visiting the next property only and not sleeping in our car.

Your question re: parking being answered above, but did want to add : You will not find a better Beach anywhere IMHO! My husband and I went to Poipu every day during our two week stay a few years ago. We went very early, and often were the only two on the beach. (Before 10am) The water was always warm and clear and the beach sparkling clean! Not sure if the Captain Zodiac Rafting excursion (with stops for snorkeling in and around waterfalls, etc.) is still being offered, but if it is, be sure and take advantage of this "once in a lifetime" experience. We will always think of Kauai as the "True Hawaii" that most people expect, and don't always see if they keep their vacation too close to some of the other "busy" and very crowded Islands. (*FYI: I was born and raised on Oahu!)
When only visiting for the 8 hours of the cruise ship being in port. What to do?

If not expensive rent an island taxi and have them take you to poipu beach It is a public beach and free. The sand and water are great and it’s such a nice beach to visit. We had rented a car for our stay so I am not sure of the cost if too expensive there must be a public beach in Lihue somewhere. When in Hawaii go swimming!! Good Luck
Is snorkeling equipment available to rent on the beach?
