In my opinion, the nicest beach on the island. A long stretch of sand, plenty of shady places to lay up in the mangroves, and a couple of nice bars. Best beach on Martinique.Full review by malexkintner
Hello, I am doing some research and I am wondering if this is the same beach as Grand Anse des Salines? Are there rental amenities available? Chairs/umbrellas/cocktails/food? Also does anybody know the approximate taxi ride time from the cruise port in fort de France? And The approximate price of said taxi? Another poster had said it was $250. That seems excessive I was hoping it was a typo... Alas are there any shells on the beach? And does anybody know the best beach in Martinique for shelling?

This is the same beach as grande anse des salines. There are a few restaurants, shops, and possibly a place for chair rentals. The taxi estimate is probably high, but I'm not sure by how much. Taxis are very expensive in Martinique. on the flip side, car rentals are about 25 euro / day. Driving is a little crazy, but it's a fun island to drive as well.
Hi, I see that several people have found Salines Beach to NOTbe the most desirable beach on Martinique. My ideal beach would be long calm waters with snorkling and a place to go to the bathroom. Of course will have a rental car. I would love to know which are the beaches that are better than Salines Beach? I appreciate your reply

We actually found Les Salines to be our favorite beach in Martinique. We went to Les Salines, L'Anse Coulevre, and the beach near Trois Islets. We never made it to the Atlantic side of the island, but we did drive a great portion of the Caribbean side. None of the beaches that we visited were very wide like you would find along the US east coast. The water at Les Salines was very calm for the first several hours that we were there, but it got choppy as the tide rolled in. The surroundings were spectacular. Sadly the snorkeling was not good at all. There aren't any reefs or things that would draw a lot of fish. We did like the little food stands, live music, and little souvenir stands. I don't recall if there were bathrooms, but I didn't see any at any of the other beaches that we visited.
