No need to book in advance unless you are wanting a private tour. Just allow yourself enough time to enjoy the museum. I'd say 2-3 hrs as there is so much to see. (Check the open times, it's 14:00 - 18:00hrs Tues - Fri and 10:00 - 18:00hrs on Sat).

Yes you can just turn up, but not sure about booking the tour whether it’s worth it? We just had the audio tour which was very dry and tedious and only on one floor. I eaves dropped the tour and didn’t think I was missing anything. I love mechanical watches and this is watch heaven but even I felt ‘over watched’ by the end of it. There are so many watches and clocks that you get ‘swamped’ by them all! But worth the visit as there are some truly magnificent pierces that are about 400 years old that are exquisite.
